Recorded live at The Empire Studio in East London, LIAR (Love Isn't A Right): Empire Sessions is a transient impression of Tanita Tikaram's acclaimed 2025 album.
The live session featured Helen O'Hara (Dexys Midnight Runners) on violin, Zosia Jagodzinska on cello, Bartek Głowacki on accordion, Marc Pell (Mount Kimbie) on drums, Midori Jaeger on cello, keyboards and backing vocals, Chris Roberts on guitar, Lewis McLaughlin on guitar and backing vocals, and producer of the studio album Andy Monaghan on bass. Tanita Tikaram performs lead vocals, guitar and piano.
The band form a modern orchestra, whose careful interactions reflect both the delicacy and intention of Tanita's writing, as well as the political turmoil that the music represents, examines, and explores.
