Takuro Okada’s album Konoma, released last year, received widespread acclaim from listeners and media both in Japan and abroad, becoming a defining work that exemplifies his ongoing musical exploration. Still Water, his first physical release since Konoma, will receive nationwide distribution beginning on Record Day 2026 DAY1.
This release features music originally composed for the campaign of the new MT2 footwear model created by TOKYO DESIGN STUDIO New Balance.
The MT2 reinterprets the craftsmanship New Balance has cultivated over its 120-year history for contemporary lifestyles, offering barefoot like lightness, enhanced breathability, and a secure, enveloping fit. Designed to seamlessly connect everyday life and the outdoors, the product served as the inspiration for Okada’s new compositions.
Side A, “Still Water”, features Shoei Ikeda on flute. Combining folk-inspired textures with elements of Afro music, the piece is built around a minimalist ensemble in which every note serves a purpose. Recorded from an improvised performance and captured on analog tape, the track evokes the subtle movement of a calm water surface, creating a rich sense of space and quiet sonic detail.
Side B, “Dohman Sehman”, takes the mood of vintage funk as its starting point while weaving together melodic sensibilities and folkloric tones reminiscent of Japanese folk songs and kayōkyoku. The recording features Kei Matsumaru (alto saxophone), Mei Katsumaru (tenor saxophone), Yuma Koda (Wurlitzer/Farfisa), Yuka Konishi (bass), and So Ebihara (drums). Spatial mixing techniques inspired by dub music and a powerful rhythm section combine to create an impressive and deeply propulsive groove.
Through the contrasting worlds of the contemplative “Still Water”, rich with silence and space, and the groove-driven “Dohman Sehman”, this release showcases the continued expansion of Takuro Okada’s creative vision in the period following Konoma.

RETURNING GOODS

COST OF RECOVERY
In case the returned goods are not received within the specified conditions, we reserve the right to charge you for the direct costs incurred in recovering the goods.
REFUNDS
