From the basement of a now-condemned motorcycle gang hideout in Dayton, Ohio comes STONE COAL WHITE! Ultra-primitive and ultra raw funk with classic Ohio funky soul elements. The A-side - “Hell Below,” a cover of the Curtis Mayfield classic more closely resembles the East Of Underground version, with a furious tempo and driving wah guitar. File under Unhinged Funk. The B-side, “Free,” previously available as a 45 on the private press label Ewing from 1971 is quite literally inconceivably rare. Now, thanks to our friends at Numero Group, this two-sided heater is available for a low price...while supplies last.
