The album was written by Alice Cooper, Dick Wagner, and Maryann Cotton, and tells the story of a rock star / serial killer named Chester Rose, whose twisted journey dives into lust, romance, obsession, and blood across 12 tracks. It takes the listener on a dynamic journey from an opening that is pure rock energy to darker, more sophisticated storytelling reminiscent of the work of Lou Reed, Peter Gabriel, and early Alice Cooper. Years ago, Alice Cooper and his longtime collaborator Dick Wagner conceived and wrote a new concept in the spirit of Welcome to My Nightmare, a theatrical and unique production intended for both album and television. From the beginning, Alice and Dick envisioned the project being performed and carried forward by a younger artist with the right voice and image. Cotton was discovered through Dick Wagner, who took him under his wing and introduced him to Alice. Maryann Cotton later relocated from Copenhagen, Denmark, to Los Angeles to contribute to and complete the album and concept. They recorded extensive pre-production in multiple versions, but the album was never fully recorded or released, as Dick Wagner passed away shortly before they entered the studio. Two years ago, Maryann decided to pick up the project and bring it to completion. He reopened all Pro Tools sessions and restored Dick Wagner’s original guitar riffs and solos, with careful cleanup and mixing work. They also brought Steve Hunter into the project, who has been involved throughout the entire album. Additionally, Tommy Henriksen from the Hollywood Vampires contributed both rhythm and lead guitar parts. The majority of the album features and is recorded by the legendary duo of Steve Hunter and Dick Wagner, making this the final recording in rock history to include both of them together. Musically, it is a unique, classic hard rock record.
