PROGRESSIVE GROUP MARVELOUS KID AT THEIR MOST DEVELOPED,
AFTER THE BAND HAD MOVED INTO THE LONDON UNDERGROUND
CIRCUIT. THEIR CANTERBURY-INFLUENCED SOUND HAD BECOME
LOOSER AND MORE JAZZ-MINDED, WITH LONG-FORM WRITING
OPENING INTO EXTENDED INSTRUMENTAL PASSAGES AND PETE
DAVEY, FORMERLY OF PATTO, ADDING SAXOPHONE AND FLUTE. THE
FOUR MAIN PIECES WERE RECORDED IN THE BAND’S HOME STUDIO
AND REMAINED UNRELEASED AT THE TIME. THE CD ALSO INCLUDES THE
PREVIOUSLY UNRELEASED “ANTS,” RECORDED AT BBC MAIDA VALE. A
REMARKABLE SURVIVING DOCUMENT FROM A BRITISH PROGRESSIVE
BAND THAT NEVER MADE THE ALBUM IT CLEARLY DESERVED.
