Scottish avant-funk band Mackenzies bring you their long awaited debut album in summer 2026
The band formed in 1985 and were quickly recognised for the few singles they released - John Peel invited them for two Peel Sessions and they featured on NME's legendary C86 mixtape. However they split before finishing an album and now approaching the 40th anniversary of their debut single New Breed the band are back.
A Dog's Breakfast is released by Last Night From Glasgow on CD and coloured vinyl pressed at Seabass Vinyl in Scotland.
Peel was a big supporter of the band inviting them for a second session only months after their first visit. In 1986, the band appeared on NME's C86 mixtape alongside Primal Scream, The Pastels and The Wedding Present. Since reforming, Mackenzies have returned to the stage with triumphant shows at Celtic Connections, a sold out performance at The Glad Cafe with labelmates QUAD90, a packed in store at Glasgow's Music From Big Blue record shop and a recent sold out appearance at Edinburgh College of Art's Wee Red Bar
