Composer and artist Jim Ghedi crafts a new folk cannon with his epic ‘The Death of Robin Hood’ Original Soundtrack. A dark adaptation of the 17th century folk tale ‘Robin Hood’s Death’, the film is out in the UK in September and stars Hugh Jackman, Jodie Comer, Bill Skarsgård, Murray Bartlett and more.
Droning harmoniums and hurdy gurdy lay a thick bed of sound for soaring fiddle melodies, with Ghedi’s signature wailing vocal occasionally floating on top in this wholly unique approach to film score.
Already known for pushing the bounds of folk music on his latest album ‘Wasteland’ (February 2025, Basin Rock), Ghedi’s fresh approach to traditional folk music made him the ideal pairing for director Michael Sarnoski’s dark reimagining of the classic tale of Robin Hood.
