Now over twenty years together as a working duo, Hammock continue their remarkable string of sonic explorations with A Moonrise Was the Second Coming. This project, a sequel to Hammock’s previous album, The Second Coming Was a Moonrise, captures a time of exploration, when in his late teens, Byrd and a friend, under the influence of psychedelics, mistook the moonrise for the second coming of Christ.
From Hammock’s Marc Byrd: “It’s believed by some that after an event called the Second Coming, certain things will be left behind and cast into a lake of fire. The songs on A Moonrise Was the Second Coming come from the same sonic universe as The Second Coming Was a Moonrise. But unlike those poor lost souls cast into the furnace prepared for the Devil and his angels, we just couldn’t leave these songs behind.
So maybe the only Second Coming we’re getting is a moon rising over the horizon, music that makes the heart ache, and the slow realization that we’re still losing the ones we love — and that it hurts because they’re the ones we love . . . And like so many things, these songs make more sense when connected to the ones that came before them. Maybe we do, too.” Byrd and Thompson, both primarily guitarists, have found their musical bonds becoming ever stronger as their shared work grows even more dramatic and richer over the years, pursuing a feeling of sweeping, shimmering sonic awe that can never simply be summed up as anything other than itself.
Returning guest performers include regular collaborator Matt Kidd of Slow Meadow adding strings, Emery Dobyns adding vocals, Deserta’s Matthew Doty on synths, Lumenette’s Christine Byrd adding angelic vocals, and Jake Finch adding some remarkable drumming.

RETURNING GOODS

COST OF RECOVERY
In case the returned goods are not received within the specified conditions, we reserve the right to charge you for the direct costs incurred in recovering the goods.
REFUNDS
Once you have notified us of your decision to cancel the order, any payments made will be promptly refunded to you. You can expect the refund to be processed within 14 days of your cancellation.
