With *Bonsoir Paris*, Bilal Hassani has released a twelve-track album entirely dedicated to partying, nightlife and the freedom to be oneself. Produced by himself and Sutus, and featuring compositions by Sutus, Poussin, Balthazar Picard, Lilian Mille, Augustin Charnet and Lowonstage, the record revives the unapologetic pop and French Touch of the likes of David Guetta, Bob Sinclar, Daft Punk and Martin Solveig – that 90s house music that shaped his childhood – which he blends with bolder electro sounds and even a touch of Romanian pop. The album is mainly mixed by Nathan Boddy, whose work features on tracks by New Jeans, Mura Masa, Oklou, Olivia Dean and Shygirl, guaranteeing a production that is both pop and resolutely contemporary.
With an average tempo of 124 BPM, it’s an album made for dancing, conceived as a breath of fresh air for his audience.
Billal: key dates:
In 2019, after representing France at Eurovision with his song “ROI” – a powerful message of self-acceptance – he released his debut album, KINGDOM, and won the NRJ Music Award for “Francophone Breakthrough Artist of the Year”. That same year, his first tour won an Olympia Award.
In 2020, the music video for his single “FAIS LE VIDE”, taken from his second album CONTRE SOIREE, won the MTV France Music Video of the Year 2020
=> In 2021, Bilal was a finalist in series 11 of *Danse avec les Stars*, becoming the first celebrity in Europe to dance with a same-sex partner, thereby shining a spotlight on the LGBTQIA+ community during prime time. His performances left a lasting impression, both for their technical skill and his stage presence.
In 2022, his third album, *Théorème*, was released, produced by the king of French pop, GrandMarnier of the group Yelle.
Always in search of new forms of artistic expression, Bilal is now turning his attention to cinema. He landed his first role in *Les Reines du Drame* by director Alexis Langlois, sharing the screen with Asia Argento and Alma Jodorowsky. Distributed by Bac-Films, the film was screened at Cannes as part of the ‘Quinzaine des Cinéastes’. Bilal will return in a second film, *NINO DANS LA NUIT*, directed by Laurent Micheli and based on the novel by Simon and Capucine Johannin.
