Rei Harakami's second album, *opa*q*, is being released as a double LP for the first time, featuring new remastering by Yoshinori Sunahara!
*opa*q* stands as an early masterpiece in Rei Harakami's discography. Originally released in 1999—just one year after his impactful debut, *unrest*—it was later reissued in 2005 as a special edition containing two bonus tracks. Long awaited on vinyl, it is regarded as a seminal work in the Japanese techno scene. The album includes remixes such as "on" by Ian O'Brien and "double flat" by Max404, garnering significant attention at the time, particularly among club music listeners. It remains a quintessential example of Harakami's signature sound—playful, bouncing, and toy-like—that has lost none of its freshness over the years. Like the CD reissue, this release includes liner notes by Akito Katayose (GREAT3).
*opa*q* opens with the fresh yet remarkably sophisticated "glimglim" and concludes with "schw schw," a track driven by the exhilarating momentum of intricately constructed beats. With its thrilling blend of delicate melodies and harmonies, unpredictable rhythms, and unconventional soundscapes, it stands out as a highlight among the albums Rei Harakami left behind. REFUNDS
