Jay Kelly is the critically acclaimed drama-comedy starring George Clooney and Adam Sandler released in 2025. The film is directed by Noah Baumbach, who enlisted the help of Oscar-nominated composer Nicholas Britell, who is known for his work on Moonlight, If Beale Street Could Talk, and the TV series Succession. Baumbach and Britell connected immediately at their first meeting when they discussed their ideas about music in films. After reading the script Britell understood immediately knew what the film score should sound like. Additionally, he was closely involved in the filming of the movie in Italy and England.
Just as the movie was shot on film, the score was recorded on analogue tape. This is palpable when listening to the record. Every effort has been made to make the sense of texture and warmth as vivid as possible. This record is therefore a must-hear for film and music lovers who appreciate quality, attention to details, and the stories behind the music. This story is further emphasized in the liner notes by both Noah Baumbach and Nicholas Britell. In addition, the 8-page booklet also includes sheet music for “Can I Go Again - Finale”, so that this piece can be played along on the piano.
