Transformation is the brand new album by The Alarm which was written and recorded by lead singer Mike Peters during the final few months of his life while bravely battling a rare and aggressive cancer known as Richter's Syndrome.
Diagnosed on April 22nd 2024, devastatingly, Mike finally succumbed to this dreadful disease on the 29th April 2025.
Mike faced cancer head on with an unswerving, positive attitude until the last... despite suffering the extreme rigours of the disease and whilst enduring a brutal treatment regime that unfortunately proved to be unsuccessful.
Transformation by The Alarm is regrettably Mike Peters’ final recorded work.... but it also constitutes Mike's finest output. Positivity, optimism, and an unparalleled determination to fight for life simply explode from this album, whilst the ever-present themes of Love, Hope and Strength - with which Mike Peters and The Alarm have become so synonymous - continue to permeate these remarkable new compositions, providing a fitting testimony to these enduring tenets.
The Transformation album contains a core of fifteen brand new Mike Peters compositions spread across all the media formats including Vinyl, CD, Digital and Dolby Atmos and will be released officially on 29th May 2026, exactly a year to the day of Mike's funeral.
Artist Bio
Transformation is the brand new album by The Alarm which was written and recorded by lead singer Mike Peters’ during an eight month period of “extreme living,” that began with a devastating diagnosis of the rare and aggressive cancer Richter’s Syndrome on April 22nd 2024.
Left untreated, Mike was told he only had months to live and so, to halt the rapid spread of this rare and deadly lymphoma, Mike was forced to cancel a 50 date US Alarm tour and immediately admitted on to the Stellar Clinical Trial at The Christie NHS Foundation Hospital in Manchester, England along with an 18 week course of hard core R-Chop chemotherapy.
“It was a harrowing day to discover that after living with Leukaemia (CLL), for the best part of 30 years, my disease had suddenly transformed over night into a rare and deadly combination of Leukaemia and Lymphoma known as Richter’s Syndrome or Richter’s Transformation.” says Mike Peters. “It was terrifying especially when like all human beings thrust into this predicament, I began reading about my poor chances of survival over the internet. It was only when I got to The Christie and listened to the doctors explain about new breakthroughs in medical science that I actually had some real and promising “optimistic options” to pursue, with one of them being a revolutionary therapy I had never heard of before, called CAR-T. With this new information, I was able to refocus and prepare myself mind, body and soul to do everything I could to help find the key to a new life and at the same time, vowed to keep my engagement with music high and alive throughout the whole process.”
Wherever and whenever possible, Mike Peters has continued to create and write new music and songs which have now became the catalyst for TRANSFORMATION, a brand new album by The Alarm that documents the emotional and mental challenges of trying to stay alive while navigating the pathway to new life and the potential for a real cure that CAR-T offers.
The Alarm’s Transformation has been produced by long time Alarm / Mike Peters collaborator - George Williams, with the initial recording sessions beginning as a simple musical exchange between father and son, with Mike’s youngest - Evan ap Michael (Aged 18), backing him on drums.
The first session at Rock Hard Studios in Blackpool on October 7th, was only intended to lay down a future marker for post transplant development, but Mike’s extreme living mindset soon gave way to further music creations that demanded recording and capturing while emotions were running high.
The result is Transformation, an extraordinary record made from extraordinary circumstances.
“I’m glad I have been gifted enough life to finish the new record. Nothing was planned up front and It’s all been touch and go not knowing how far I could take things in between all the chemo sessions.” States a grateful Mike Peters. “Now with the musical half ofTransformation complete, I have something other than cancer to focus on while I’m in isolation navigating the challenge of a personal and physical CAR-T transformation into new life.”
At the same time Miike receives his hoped for ‘new life’ on January 21st, The Alarm will also release brand new music on the exact same day.
The first track from Transformation to drop into the public domain is called CHIMERA (pronounced Ky-meer-a), and will be released to DSP’s on January 21st 2025, the exact day that Mike Peters is reunited with his T-Cells via CAR-T Therapy Transplantation.
Transformation by The Alarm features a core of fifteen brand new Mike Peters compositions spread across all the media formats including Vinyl, CD, Digital and Dolby Atmos and will be released officially in the summer of 2025.
