‘Carpal Tunnel Syndrome’ - the bonkers sound collage / 2000 scratch odyssey from the musical genius that is Kid Koala - gets the 25th Anniversary reissue treatment from Ninja Tune.

A true musical visionary, Eric San aka Kid Koala combined a sensei-like approach to his craft with wild humour, giving his art an utterly inimitable quality. A dedicated turntablist (‘turntablism’: the art of using turntables as a musical instrument to create original sounds, mixes and rhythms), San recorded ‘Carpal Tunnel Syndrome’ entirely on turntables, hand-cutting vinyl records onto an eight-track recorder. The result is an eccentric, joyful romp through his uniquely warped and brilliant mind.

For fans of The Avalanches, Mr Scruff, DJ Shadow, Nightmares on Wax, RJD2.

Kid Koala has established himself as a respected performer, film composer, theatre producer and visual artist. His career began as a scratch DJ in 1994, rapidly growing a cult fanbase due to his virtuosic skills.

Ever innovating, he quickly evolved into combining turntables with analogue machines and visual storytelling devices to create his signature style. Kid Koala jumps effortlessly between genres as eclectic as hip-hop, ambient, alternative, contemporary classical, blues, classic rock and jazz.

He has released five solo albums on Ninja Tune and three albums on Arts & Crafts Records.

He has also toured with Radiohead, Arcade Fire, Beastie Boys, Money Mark, A Tribe Called Quest, Mike Patton, Jack Johnson, DJ Shadow and The Preservation Hall Jazz Band.

He has collaborated with Deltron 3030, Gorillaz, Lovage, The Slew and the Afiara String Quartet. He has written and produced collaborative albums with vocalists Emilìana Torrini and Trixie Whitley and scored the multi-platform video game ‘Floor Kids’.

He has contributed to scores for director Edgar Wright’s ‘Shaun of the Dead’ and ‘Scott Pilgrim vs. The World’, as well as director Rian Johnson’s ‘Looper’ and has composed music for The National Film Board of Canada, the Cartoon Network and Adult Swim.
